SPUNKY & PROPTOSIS

Alight so Spunky turned 14 a few days ago a number of people brought up the incident when he got Proptosis. Basically his eye was coming out of its socket. This happened June of 2005. Later in the fall I actually learned about it in an animal disease class.

So proptosis is more common in breeds with flat faces and/or bulging eyes. It's also known as 'chihuahua disease'. The eye lids end up behind the eye so the eye looks as through it goings to fall out, yeah I know pretty gross. In his case this happened when he was fighting with one of our other dogs, he got all excited and hyper that all the pressure pushed his eye out. Doctors usually pop the eye back in and sew up the eye lids in many cases the dogs usually retail their vision. Anyway here is Spunky after his procedure with his cone. The only person that had a picture of it is on a PHONE :( but yeah he's been good since and no more eyes popping out.
