URI KITTIES

From treating sick animals and doing daily intakes for new cats that come into the shelter so they can be adoptable to the public.

We have numerous isolation's throughout depends on the conditions of the animals; emphasis this week would be Upper Respiratory Infection (URI). There are a number of reason animals can get this, one can be over crowding, so if one lil guy gets it everyone gets it! The animals usually have discharge in the eyes and nose, then losing sense of smell due to do this discharge can cause numerous complications for one they won't eat because they cannot smell their food; differing from humans animals rely on smell for everything.

Anyway this batch of kitten have URI and will not eat on their own, which means syringe feeding yay! No... it's a real pain, time consuming and there many precautions that must be taken. Also it's syringe with no needle feeding; special formula made for these babies.

For the ones who will not even eat that food; we have to give them subcue. fluids. This is where the needles come in.

They get a certain amount of fluids and it all goes in subcutaneous. Hope these lil guys get better.
